She is most often known for being one of the first supermodels and has made several appearances for TIME and Sports Illustrated. She also did her iconic bikini poster in 1978, and that single photo became the 1970s pop culture sensation. Her big opportunity as a model came when she was 17 after some editorial staff work at Glamour, and they noticed her bathing suit advertisement. She was then booked for a Glamour shoot in Saint Thomas, where Ali MacGraw did the entire assessment. Later in the same year, she tried giving covers for Elle and Seventeen. She then decided to appear in Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue with several other shows. She was the first Model to make two appearances for the Sports Illustrated magazines for a swimsuit.
